The beach stretches for a few hundred yards between villas and the sea. To access the beach you'll have to find your way on one of the short, sandy paths between the villas and cottages. When you go for a swim or snorkeling, there are first a few rocks to overcome, but the water is rarely ever rough at this location, which is protected from the sometimes strong eastern winds.
Although the little beach of Burgeaux Bay is public and in close proximity to active Maho, this beach is almost deserted. The drawbacks of this nice and restful beach however is a bit of airplane noise from nearby Princess Juliana Airport.
The point of Burgeaux Bay is on the western end of Simpson Bay and can be reached over a short, unpaved road at the end of the airport runway at Sunset Beach Bar/Maho Beach. In opposite to Maho and Simpson Bay area, there are just a few villas, private homes, and vacation properties in this quiet residential area of Beacon Hill on Dutch Sint Maarten.
Facing southwest, Burgeaux Bay is a perfect spot to watch sunsets, and afterwards, if you are up to see people, have a 1/2 mile walk to the restaurants, beach bars, casinos, and entertainment on Maho or at Caravanserai Beach Resort.
