Kim Sha Beach on Dutch St Maarten: for sunsets, or to go on boat excursions
Most people will say that Kim Sha Beach is a part of Simpson Beach, but actually it is located outside the lagoon, which makes it a perfect area for excursion and dive boats to start their trips. The beach is wide and flat, and runs from the Royal Palm Beach Club (at the Western end of Cole Bay) to the Atrium Beach Resort.
You can get get drinks, chairs and umbrellas from the commercial establishments on Kim Sha beach. In the center of the beach is Ocean Explorers Dive Center, a certified PADI dive shop. Westport Watersports is another popular watersport shop on the beach, and in case you are up to Parasailing they will make your day!
Some of the excursion boats, and dive boats leave from Kim Sha Beach, e.g. from Ocean Explorers
The eastern end of the beach has a good sunset view, and a good little bar where you can watch it while sipping a sundowner. Another, recently opened bar is the Buccaneer Bar, which is rapidly becoming a popular meeting place, and with a great view of the bay.
Parts of Kim Sha Beach have been man-made, as new sand was filled into some areas of the beach after heavy erosion took its toll.
