Nettle Bay

Nettle Bay, in French called "Baie Nettlé", is a long, flat, usually calm beach located between the Simpson Bay lagoon and the Caribbean Sea. Nettle Bay had remained undeveloped for a long time.

Nettle Bay Beach has also changed into an active watersport center, especially for wakeboarding, waterskiing and kitesurfing. It is home of the "Academie de la Glisse", the experts for all kinds of surfing, see Activities.

The entrance to the beach is somewhat hidden behind the hotels. Best is to follow the signs for Ma Ti Beach and Layla's Beach Bar. They provide beach access and amenities.

It is only some 20 year ago that the construction of "La Belle Créole Hotel" kicked off the development of the bay. Today, the hotel has closed down, but the Bay has changed into a pretty active and busy area, with plenty of hotels, resorts, apartment buildings, shops and restaurants.

The view on Nettle Bay is splendid: you see the neigbhoring island of Anguilla to the north, Marigot Bay and its harbor to the east, and the ruins of La Belle Creole along the Pointe du Bluff to the west.
